Logistics use case

Trip Count at Dump Yard

AI-based vehicle detection that automatically counts every truck entering and exiting the dump yard, in real time.

The problem

What this use case is built to solve

Trip counts are recorded by hand at the dump yard or pulled from dispatch logs later. Cards go missing, counts get padded, reconciliation is weekly at best.

How it works

The mechanism

A camera at each entry/exit of the dump yard runs a vision-based virtual trip-line. Every truck crossing is detected, the plate read, and logged with timestamp and direction. Live reconciliation against dispatch exposes any discrepancy within seconds.

Module: Mineoptic Visual (Lite)

What it captures

The data points

  • Truck identity per crossing
  • Direction (in/out)
  • Per-hour and per-shift counts
  • Reconciled difference vs dispatch
Outcomes

What changes for the operation

  • Live throughput per dump zone
  • Per-route, per-direction counts
  • End of paper-based trip cards
  • Dispatch discrepancies surface in minutes
